A Blog Tutorial Series

This is a beginning of a blog series on how to utilize your rights where purchasing objects and tools from other creators are concerned. The purpose of these upcoming posts is to educate others on the reasons why Full Permissions does not mean "Do anything you want with this purchase."

This series will go over the subject matter below in depth:

Copyrights
Content Creation
Terms of Service
User Licensing Agreement
Open Source
Public Domain
GNU
Permissions
Digital Millenium Copyright Act
Wiki for Secondlife with Source information about these expectations
Responsibility
Integrity

The information in this blog series will be posted on notecards and given to SL Teachers without Borders (SLT) for open source use. Terms will be written on the tools so that schools or instructors can utilize the information for their own particular reasons.

The Subject matter is about our rights and the rights the creators have to objects. To protect you, and the creators, not have Linden Labs repeat itself on the subject as well.

Stay tuned to tonight's post where we will explore these subjects one at a time.
Even the best course material on SecondLife(TM) can be given a user license agreement or turned into Opensource.

Stay tuned. Learn more! Get the Scoop, Be Informed.

Prep in Progress

Todays post is about the last days accomplishments.

I moved my Enter the Realm store over by the University. A spot became readily available I rented the spot immediately. The other store in the parcel has 14 days on its tag. I hope for those days to be moved to the new store. I have 3 shops in that parcel. 1 belongs to my Alt, the other 2 belong to JeZeBeLes Realm. Purpose of Enter the Realm is to sell Mature content items, and inventory reduction items. Things I wont wear anymore and I know someone else will appreciate. Essentially a mini yardsale in a 25 prim shop.

As for education, today we installed a new instructor at Fermi University. LaKira Ratelle she and I have many qualities that are very similar in our businesses. We sell mermaid products, we are close enough in age, we both live in the same region there bouts in RL and we are also interested in educating. We both have stores in similar sims. Its kind of scary were both brunette too. She was given the go ahead to start planning classes and has 2 classes formed already. I hope that her experience with us becomes very enriched as time goes by.

We have 3 applicants for training to teach at the University. No one has really stepped forward to do apprentiship program. It might not be time for such a thing.

Todays accomplishments: We set up a classroom in the sky, we also created more paperwork for the teachers to read pertaining to teaching tools. I also copied them for SL Teachers without Borders. Sent a file to Morrigan and Panya sent me some teacher tools to send off to Morrigan as well.

Doing few things in Second Life (TM) was somewhat frustrating. For instance, Jez Avitar did not have the ability to walk straight today. Rather large builds in the sandbox prevent her from flying. Very strange last few days on SL (TM). I wonder if something was seriously broken. The other issue I had was chronically being in packet loss mode. My computer had to think alot today. Take a few steps. (Think) Open inventory (THINK) strange.
Hope soon the grid will be more stable & dependable. Macs users (myself) have it harder than others in many ways.

I count my blessings however that I have the ability to log into Second Life (TM) at all.

Progress in Teaching

My motivation today in Second Life (TM) was to focus on the training material for student instructors as well as material for already seasoned instructors. In the process of developing two notes which are not complete mind you, I have had several suggestions brought to me by Fermi Sandbox Staff, an SL Teachers Without Borders member and an Second Life (TM) Mentor.

Their suggestions are as followed:
From Bosco: If you use notes for your class you do not have to be stuck behind a keyboard typing. Its easier and more consistent for a teacher to use notes.

From REW: She hopes we can develope a sign that posts the Values of the build while the build is happening. This is a real brilliant idea.

From Toady: Remember Teaching Etiquette, always be pleasant and professional.

From Contessa: Maybe have a no copy no trans display added to their supplies to refer to for future purposes.

I worked on a Beginners Suggested Guide to Teaching. And a Notecard on Suggestions.

Now if you are an instructor or student of building courses on Second Life and you have a suggestion that is beneficial for all teachers and all schools I am all ears. This paperwork will be a SLT resource and teacher training tool for all workforces in the educational communities of Second Life (TM).
